allAfrica.com: Nigeria: FG Yet to Embrace Bio-Larvicides for Malaria Control – Expert

Dr Aramis Martinez Arias, consultant in vector-borne disease control at Labiofam – a Cuban firm – during a visit to Daily Trust headquarters in Abuja, explained that bio-larvicides were a cost-effective intervention and would involve communities which can carry it on without interfering with any other programmes to control malaria or mosquitoes.

Rivers biolarvicide programme lasted 29 months, up to July 2012 across 10 local government areas, but Dr Kalada Dick Irenabere, personal assistant to the state health commissioner, Dr Sampson Parker, told Daily Trust the state was still working with remnants of its ended bio-larvicide programme and was looking to restart it.
